Data We Collect or Process
Account Data
If you sign in with Google, Fish Agent may process your Google account email address, display name, Google account identifier, and Fish Agent API user identifier. This data is used to create or link your Fish Agent account, enable synchronization, manage account access, and support future account controls.
Fishing Journal Data
Fish Agent may store fishing session times, session status, catch records, species, size, weight, gear, bait, lure, technique, depth, notes, session route track points, distance travelled, sync status, and local record metadata. This data is used to provide the fishing journal, session history, catch history, recommendations, synchronization, and backup features.
Location Data
Fish Agent may access and store device GPS coordinates for session start/end, catch coordinates, location accuracy, nearby place or waterbody labels, and static map snapshot references. Location data is used to record where sessions and catches happened, show maps, calculate nearby context, and fetch relevant environmental conditions. Exact locations are private by default.
While a fishing session is active, Fish Agent records your route as a series of GPS track points at the highest accuracy your device reports, refreshed periodically (at least about every 15 seconds, and more often while you are moving). This is used to draw your session track and to calculate the distance travelled during the session.
To keep recording your route when the app is in the background or your device is locked, Fish Agent uses background location while a session is active. On Android this runs as a foreground service with a persistent notification and an active-location indicator. Background location collection happens only while a session is running: it starts when you start a session and stops when you end it. You can enable a setting to automatically end a session when the phone is locked, and you can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings, which limits or disables route tracking.
Photos and Camera Data
Fish Agent may access the camera or photo library when you choose to take or select a catch photo or a sky/weather scan photo. Photo data may include catch photos, sky or nearby-place photos, local photo URI or app-owned photo copy, photo metadata, and a compressed cloud copy when synchronization is enabled and supported. Photos are used for catch logging, journal display, optional synchronization, optional AI fish identification, and optional AI sky/weather analysis.
Environmental Data
Fish Agent may store weather condition, air temperature, water temperature, barometric pressure, pressure trend, tide stage, tide height, moon phase, and moon illumination. This data is used to provide session context, history, and recommendation features.
AI Fish Identification Data
If you request fish identification for a catch photo, Fish Agent sends the selected image to the Fish Agent API. The API may use an AI provider to identify likely fish species. AI results may include a suggested species name, confidence score, alternatives, optional size estimate, and short reasoning. AI results are suggestions only.
When a species is identified with sufficient confidence, the API may also request species-level safety and handling guidance (such as edibility, toxicity, and handling hazards) and size and legal-limit guidance. To produce legal-limit guidance, the identified species and an approximate, jurisdiction-level area (or the region/waterbody label, if available) may be sent to the AI provider — your exact coordinates are not sent for this. Safety and legal-limit results are general guidance only, may be incomplete or inaccurate, and are not a substitute for expert identification or official local regulations.
Subscription and Billing Data
If you purchase a subscription through Google Play, payment is processed entirely by Google. Fish Agent does not receive or store your payment card details. The Fish Agent API receives a purchase token from the app, verifies it with the Google Play Developer API, and records your subscription status and entitlement level (Free, Plus, or Pro). Subscription status, expiry dates, and the associated Google account identifier are stored to determine your daily AI feature limits. This data is used only to enforce your subscription entitlements and is not shared for marketing or advertising purposes.
AI Sky and Weather Photo Analysis Data
If you request a sky or weather scan, Fish Agent sends the selected image to the Fish Agent API. The API may use an AI provider to estimate visible conditions such as cloud types, visibility, weather state, sea state, time of day, storm or front signs, snow or recent precipitation signs, and wind indicators from waves, trees, flags, or smoke. Results may include confidence, limitations, and short reasoning. This feature is an observation aid, not a forecast or safety-critical warning system. Exact private coordinates should not be sent to third-party AI providers for sky/weather analysis.
How We Use Data

Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
Fish Agent may use Google services for Google sign-in, Google Maps, Google Play distribution, Google Play Billing (subscription purchase and verification), and platform services. Supabase is used by the Fish Agent API for backend database, authentication/account linkage, storage, and server-side application data. Weather, tide, map, geocoding, or environmental providers may receive approximate or precise coordinates when the app or API requests location-specific environmental data. When you choose AI fish identification or AI sky/weather photo analysis, the Fish Agent API may send the selected photo and limited context to an AI provider.
We may disclose data if required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, to protect users, to prevent abuse, or to protect the security and integrity of Fish Agent. We do not sell personal or sensitive user data.
Local Storage and Cloud Synchronization
Fish Agent stores journal data locally on your device first. If you do not sign in or enable cloud/API features, your fishing journal remains local to your device unless you export or share it yourself. If you sign in and use synchronization, selected records may be uploaded to the Fish Agent API and stored in backend services.
Public or Community Sharing
Public catch reports, hotspots, or community features may be supported in future or limited flows. Public sharing should be opt-in. Approximate locations should be used by default. Exact public location sharing should require explicit user choice.
Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the app, wipe local data, or restore/reset the app. Cloud-synced data is retained while your Fish Agent account exists or until you request deletion, subject to reasonable backup, security, legal, or abuse-prevention retention needs.
Data Export and Deletion
Fish Agent is designed to support local export/import and privacy controls. You may request account deletion or cloud data deletion by contacting gregorsirca@gmail.com. When you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize personal data associated with your Fish Agent account unless retention is required for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, or operational reasons.
Local data stored only on your device must be deleted from the app/device by using app privacy controls, clearing app data, or uninstalling the app.
Security
Fish Agent uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data. API communication should use HTTPS. Access to cloud data is controlled through authentication and server-side authorization. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Fish Agent is intended for general fishing journal use and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.
International Users
Fish Agent may process data in countries where its service providers operate. If you use the app from the European Union, United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, you may have rights to access, correct, export, object to, restrict, or delete certain personal data. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes, when providers change, or when legal requirements change. The updated policy will show a new "Last updated" date.
